Of the many varieties of wild grasses in Ireland, only a few grow on bogs. One of the most abundant grasses on our bogs is Fionnánor Purple Moor grass. It is familiar as the grass that almost floats on the bog in winter and blows around as it does not break down and decompose due to the acidic habitat. It was widely used in the past for animal bedding and ropes as well as many other uses.

The original home of Kilcoe Studios is based in Kilcoe near Skibbereen, Co Cork but Kilcoe Studios now also has an office and workshop space in Ballydehob, Co Cork.
